Vishnu Sahasranamam (which means “1000 names of Vishnu”) is a list of 1000 Vishnu names. It represents one of the most sacred and most used hymn in Hinduism. In Sanskrit, sahasra means one thousand and nama means name. This collocation can be also interpreted as “having one thousand names”. To “Vishnu-Sahasranamam” were written a large number of comments. The commentaries from Adi Shankara in the seventh century had made a big impact upon the Hinduism philosophical schools. Also in the twelve century, Parashara Bhatar also wrote some commentaries in which he described each name from a Vishishtadvaita Vedanta philosophical point of view.
