The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
In the first half of the 90s of the XIX the century the great playwright Oscar Wilde wrote the play “The Importance of Being Earnest” which refers to “high society comedies”. Also, it is the classic of English drama. The play’s action is based on elegant, refined, long dialogues of characters. The essence of the issues of secular society such as, matchmaking and marriage are revealed. Since then, these questions were the most important for the representatives of the high society of England of those times. The older generation carefully considered the benefits of each party for their daughters.
